INFORMATION

Enos Elementary School serves approximately 300 Kindergarten through Fifth grade students. The faculty is united in unrelenting efforts to ensure that all students work toward achieving their full academic potential. Enos Elementary School is organized around instruction, community and climate.

Instruction

The staff at Enos centers instruction on the District's Learning Standards and its instructional focus, reading comprehension. The student friendly focus statement is, "I can show that I understand what I read." Enos students will show measurable growth in comprehending a variety of reading materials as measured by classroom, district, and IAR assessments. Teachers use research-based practices every day to enhance oral language, increase fluency and comprehension, and expand and develop students' vocabulary. All instructional decisions are based on data gathered from our work with students.

Community

Students are the focus for all decisions made at Enos. Teachers share common goals and collaborate with one another in professional development and instructional planning. Parents and families are warmly welcomed at Enos and take part in the many school/family activities that support their children's learning and developmental growth. Community partnerships with SIU School of Medicine, Cherry Hills, YMCA, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters support students by providing mentors, tutoring, school supplies and other educational materials, as well as field trips and enrichment activities.

Climate

Learning is an opportunity to create joy in the learner, while fostering greater independence and responsibility. The climate at Enos encourages cooperation, while valuing new learning and high academic standards. All community members work toward building relationships and encourage personal growth and goal setting.
