
Calling all 6th grade girls! 6th Grade Girls Basketball tryouts will be on 8/26 and 8/27 in the gym from 4:00 to 5:15. Girls will need tennis shoes in order to tryout. See Mr. Goss with any questions.

The GMS/FMS boys baseball team kicked off the season with a 6-1 victory over Riverton. Great job boys!

Softball families due rain Saturdays game has been moved to Rotary Park. There will be an A game and a B game vs. Greenville. The girls need be at the field by 9AM. The first game begins at 10AM once again at Rotary Park!

Just a friendly reminder that every student MUST register each year! If you have a returning student, you will need to provide 1 (one) proof of residency within the last 30 days. If you are a new student/family you will need to provide 3 (three) proofs of residency.
If your child is attending a different school. no worries. Complete the registration online and we can get that information to their new school for you!
School starts MONDAY, so please make sure registrations are complete as soon as possible!

We are working to get neighborhood and community vendors for families to connect with while also giving our families an opportunity to meet your student's teachers! Grant Middle School families, please check your email to see your new morning car rider and walker drop off/ entrance transportation plan for the 2024-2025 school year. This is brad new for both and we need families to familiarize yourself with the plan. The plan is also posted on our website.

Just a reminder tomorrow is open practice for Cross Country 8 to 9:30AM. Meet Coach Lee in the 1900 parking lot by the field. This is OPEN to all GMS athletes! Bring water!

The Keep Kids in School Coalition will be offering physicals and immunizations for District 186 students on Wednesday, August 7th at the Sangamon County Department of Public Health. Sign-in hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
No appointment needed.
The clinic will only serve District 186 students who are entering Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten, 6th and 9th grade and those who are new to Illinois who must provide a current physical exam and immunization record. All 12th grade students must provide proof of having received a dose of the meningococcal vaccine on or after their 16th birthday. The legal parent or guardian must accompany their child.
No sports physicals will be offered. Thank you!


In person registration will be Monday, August 5 from 11 am-6 pm and Tuesday, August 6 from 8am -2 pm at Grant Middle School (1800 W. Monroe). Parking is available in the front of the school and in the parking lot across from County Market. Please remember that ALL students must register each year. Please bring a utility bill with the registrants name and address within the last 30 days to help expedite this registration process (new and returning students). Staff will be on had to assist- we look forward to seeing new families and welcoming back returning ones!
If you will be unable to attend one of these dates, please reach out to Mrs. Castro (castrot@sps186.org), Grant's Family and Community Engagement Liaison, to set up a time that may work better for you.
The Public Health Department will be holding clinics on the following dates to aid in back to school physicals. All 6th graders must have an up to date physical on file at the school no later than October 1. Athlete physicals are good for 13 months.
Wednesday, August. 7 (WALK INS) from 8am-12 noon.
Tuesday, September 11 (APPT ONLY) from 8am-12 noon.
Saturday, September 14 (APPT ONLY) from 8am -12 noon.
