Last night, we had the honor of celebrating our 2025 Horace Mann Educator of the Year and Administrator of the Year finalists and winners at a beautiful reception hosted by Horace Mann. Superintendent Jennifer Gill shared thoughtful words about each recipient, highlighting their incredible impact across District 186.
Administrator of the Year, Erika Metz, gave a moving speech about how her parents’ influence shaped her career and work ethic — a powerful reminder of the values we carry into our schools every day.
Educator of the Year, Lisa Schweska, spoke from the heart about her love of teaching, inspired by her own mother, who won the same award in 1992. Lisa shared a beautiful poem that left the entire room deeply touched.
Each year, Superintendent Gill and Katie Hageman-Hageman Family Insurance have the joy of surprising and recognizing some of our most dedicated educators and administrators, shining a light on their passion, leadership, and care for our students.
Congratulations to our 2025 award recipients and finalists:
