  • We had a strong week of attendance as the sophomores, juniors, and seniors all got 4 days over 91% attendance. Our overall average for the year also rose to over 92%. Great job to those who continue to show up each day. Oh no. Freshmen. We had our worst week yet. Freshmen, did you know that it is the year we have the least amount of students move to their next grade status? Showing up plays a big part in moving on. Wait, breaking news, this just in, we have a Springfield High School first, we have a retroactive ping pong ball earned! Freshmen, with new adjustments you have achieved 1 day of over 91% from the first week of school! Our standings are now 14, to 13, to 13, to 1! Let's stay strong this week with lots of fun activities to look forward to. Over 500 students still have perfect attendance and can earn a discounted Homecoming ticket!

  • For all of those going on the UIS Nurse for a Day field trip, we will meet outside the Main Office immediately after 1st hour. See email sent to you for more info.

  • The PSAT/NMSQT signup is now available for 9th-11th graders.  The PSAT/NMSQT is the National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test for juniors.  While 9th and 10th graders may sign up, scores will not be counted for the scholarship.   The due date to sign up is October 1st.  The cost of this test is $18.00. Cash or checks must be paid in the Guidance Office by October 1st.  The date of the test is October 29th. Any questions? Email Mrs. Lauer.

  • Picture Day is Tomorrow Sept 10. Forms are available in the main office or from your English teacher.

  • Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have its first meeting on Wednesday, September 10, at 6:00 in the Cafeteria. This is a great opportunity to find a like-minded community and grow in your faith alongside other high schoolers!

If you have any questions, talk to Coach Sturm or Lydia Auble!

  • There will be an informational meeting for Robotics, Thursday Sept. 11th, after school in room WW5. If you are unable to attend please see Mr. Sutera.

  • There Will be a Boys basketball open gym this Saturday Sept. 13th in the Gym from 9am to 11AM

  • The JV football team found themselves trailing for the second week in a row before exploding for a season high 54 points. After trailing 8-0 the Senators got TD passes from Andrew Benning to Jacob Scheffler, Kam Parson, and DeAnthony Brown to go into halftime up 22-14. The second half was total domination by SHS with passes from Benning to Jamel Battie and Tyree Sullivan. This was followed by TD runs from Tyree Sullivan and Jacob Scheffler to put the game nearly away. The door was slammed shut when the Generals fumbled and flowing locks and the speed of a cheetah propelled THE Matt Murphy to his second fumble recovery and touchdown in back to back weeks. The JV team now sits at 2-0 and have scored nearly 100 points in the two games this year.
