Be A Senator Club promotes a positive atmosphere at SHS by having a monthly character focus to teach students how to Be a Senator. For the month of September, our monthly focus is Respect. Senators show respect for our school by keeping it tidy and following building procedures to keep our building safe. This week make sure you clean up after yourself in the cafeteria and follow proper procedures at the metal detectors, stairways and other common areas of the building. Thank you for Being A Senator!
The Mayor’s Youth Council is seeking additional membership and involvement from our community’s high school students. Oh boy did we have a time last night! Right off the bet that seniors set the tone with a victory in four corners and never looked back. The junior class tried to keep pace, but the seniors were too overwhelming winning 3 of the 4 major events. The sophomores got to neck and neck with the juniors after winning our pyramid building competition. But tug of war was the decider with the juniors knocking out the sophomores and then the seniors pulling their way to a tug of war victory and a Solon Olympics win! The seniors walked away with the victory with 45 points, the juniors came in second with 39, and the sophomores had their chances getting to 34. Freshmen...GREAT JOB SHOWING UP! Great job everyone and thank you for coming out.
Homecoming attendance award is here! We will run our perfect attendance check after today. We have 455 still with the chance to earn the Homecoming ticket award. For everyone with perfect attendance, Homecoming tickets will be on sale for $10 at both lunch shifts tomorrow and following the pep assembly. Pre-sold tickets will only be for those with perfect attendance. For everyone else, the price will be $15 at the door. See Kramer with questions.
We had a strong week of attendance as the sophomores, juniors, and seniors all got 4 days over 91% attendance. Our overall average for the year also rose to over 92%. Great job to those who continue to show up each day. Oh no. Freshmen. We had our worst week yet. Freshmen, did you know that it is the year we have the least amount of students move to their next grade status? Showing up plays a big part in moving on. Wait, breaking news, this just in, we have a Springfield High School first, we have a retroactive ping pong ball earned! Freshmen, with new adjustments you have achieved 1 day of over 91% from the first week of school! Our standings are now 14, to 13, to 13, to 1! Let's stay strong this week with lots of fun activities to look forward to. Over 500 students still have perfect attendance and can earn a discounted Homecoming ticket!
